Senior Citizens Entertained at King Arthur's
On Thursday 16th December Year 11 students at King Arthur's School hosted the annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Party for residents of Wincanton and the immediate area.
The event has been running for the last 25 years and currently forms part of the Year 11 Citizenship course, where the students work with and in the local community.
Each year the guest list grows and this time around 130 retired folk got together in the school hall to enjoy a morning of entertainment and hospitality. Greeted at the door by Father Christmas and Mr Deryck Lemon, Master of Ceremonies and the school's Community Cohesion Co-Ordinator, the morning was the culmination of a terms' planning.
All of the Year 11 students were there to welcome, waitress and entertain. Upon arrival the guests were served tea and coffee in the festively decorated hall.
Year 11 Catering & Hospitality students made, cooked and served the food, which included sausage rolls, mini mincepies, yule log, cheese straws.
There was plenty of musical entertainment, from the school Orchestra, Big Band, String Quartet, Choir and some lovely duets and solos from the talented students.
Here you see Alice Baker who sang a solo in Italian and Lorna Blackmore who plays the violin.
Year 8 and Year 11 Dance students performed. Here you see the Year 8 Group.
There were readings from Mrs Wilkes, Deputy Head, and Miss Finnegan, Head of Upper School.
At the end everyone sang Christmas Carols before a finale of "Rudolph" with everyone joining in.
