Dorset High Tops Button Workshop at the Balsam Centre
Try your hand at making High Top buttons
Dorset Buttons was a cottage industry that affected the lives of hundreds of families in Shaftesbury and the rest of Dorset for 200 years.
High Tops and Dorset Knobs were the first of a number of different types of Dorset buttons dating back to the 1600s. It is said they were used on men's hunting coats.
This workshop, which takes place at The Balsam Centre on Friday 30th November between 10.00am and 12.30pm, is designed to show how these buttons were made and to give you the opportunity to try your hand at making them using contemporary materials.
The cost of the workshop is £15.00
