25 Years of the Wincanton / Lahnau Twinning Association
Members of the Twinning Association have recently returned from a visit to their twin town in Lahnau Germany, having stayed with host families. This year's exchange visit was significant, as it celebrated 25 years of the formal twinning between the two towns, which took place in 1991.
During the visit the group visited places of interest, which included the city of Budingen and Castle at Ronneburg, where guests enjoyed lunch. An evening Barbeque for host families and their guests took place at one of the Lahnau members' home.
An evening Civic Reception included much entertainment, food and drink. Formal presentations and speeches took place in recognition of the 25 years of twinning. Guests from Geraberg, formerly in east Germany, attended as they are also twinned with Lahnau.
A day trip to the city of Seligenstadt involved walking along the river, visiting places of interest and the cloisters which included Gateaux and Tea. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
The eight day visit was another success and fully enjoyed by guests and host families. People cannot believe how the time has quickly passed by, since the initial exchange visit and being formally twinned.
The association always welcomes new members. If you are interested please contact the Chairman of WLTA on 01963 32508.
