A Warm Welcome from Wincanton Methodist Church
Wincanton Methodist Church is located at the top of Wincanton High Street, on the left, shortly after the turning to the Wincanton Memorial Hall and Car Park. There has been a Methodist Church here since 1873; when built to cope with a growing congregation, it replaced an earlier Methodist Church in North Street. The Methodist form of service is very similar to that of the Church of England; indeed, the founder of "Methodism", John Wesley, was himself an Anglican clergyman.
The hall which adjoins the church is open for various activities during the week; here are some of them:
Monday | Tots and Toys from 10.30am - 12.00pm Rainbows 5.00pm - 6.00pm |
Tuesdays | Brownies 6.00pm - 7.00pm |
1st Friday of month | Prayer meeting at 10.00am, followed by coffee and cake! |
3rd Friday of month | "Live at Home" lunch. |
There are various other private meetings going on and the hall is available for hire (with the proviso that alcohol is not allowed on Methodist premises).
The church provides all the usual offices, such as weddings, baptisms and funerals. The church's Minister is Rev. Paul Arnold, who can be contacted on 01747 823777.
Our services take place every week at 10.30am, and all are assured of a warm welcome. Come and try us out! We are a smallish congregation at the moment, and always welcome new members and adherents.
We will continue to publish on Wincanton Window other Methodist activities related to the Town.
