Afghan Heroes Thunder Rally - 17th to 19th June 2011 [IMPORTANT UPDATE]

The Thunder Rally is an event that was set up in 2010 as a way for the charity, Afghan Heroes, to say a big "thank you" to the motorbike community, the residents of Wootton Bassett, non-bikers, service personnel families, friends and the general public for the events that they run and the money they raise on behalf of the charity.
It came about following the very successful Mothers Day Ride in March last year which over 17,000 of you attended, and that event alone raised over £110,000. That's a massive amount which went towards the funding of several of the charity's projects, including the provision of digital televisions, PlayStations and more to Selly Oak Hospital. There are of course many more projects that your money goes into - this is just a selection! It also helps to fund the "comfort boxes" that the charity sends to ALL front line personnel currently serving in Afghanistan and this year Iraq as well - that's 13,500 boxes this year!
The first event was held at Chepstow Race Course and was a resounding success (if a little warm!). This year's event is to be held at Wincanton Race Course and we look forward to working with the staff at the race course.
As was previously mentioned, the event is about getting everyone together to celebrate the huge amount of money that you all raise on behalf of the Charity throughout the year, and it's our way of showing our gratitude to you all, no matter where you are from.
It is also about the charity and raising awareness of the work that they do and hopefully raising some more money to help our troops and their families, regardless of which service they are in.
The aim of the rally is to get all those who support the charity in its aims and who help with fundraising all year round to come and let their hair down for a couple of days. There will be plenty to do this year no matter what your age, and with a full program of action in the main arena and of course lots of live music, we hope you enjoy the second Thunder Rally!
