Autumn Courses with a Smile

Somerset Skills & Learning was recently visited by OfSted who acknowledged the benefits and value that participation in community education gave their learners.

We are proud to continue to offer our Adult Education courses which enrich people’s lives. Whether someone gains more confidence, whether you want to find your creative flair, learn a new skill or are looking for a new hobby, Somerset Skills & Learning has got a programme of adult education classes which will give all members of the community the opportunity to start something new this autumn. There are several new classes starting in November all across Somerset at venues near you.

Last year over 9,000 learners got involved in at least one class, many of whom return year after year, but over 4,000 of them were new to adult education. The team of tutors caters for all levels of ability and will provide support in a friendly learning environment that is very different to school.

Courses available in Wincanton and Yeovil include Computing for the Curious and Terrified for complete beginners, Carry on Computing to help people get more out of their computer, or you can achieve the ECDL Computing certificate, which is a must for any CV.

Barry from Wincanton told Somerset Skills and Learning:

“I was struggling with my computing skills and I felt a bit nervous and silly signing up for the course, but I had nothing to worry about. The tutor was great, the class was full of people like me and we all learnt together. I can now get so much more from my computer and I will be enrolling on the next level.”
