Be a Savvy Shopper and Buy Local Goods and Services

Tracy West, The Country HousekeeperAs a local self-employed service provider I truly understand the importance of buying locally for both goods and services. My business, The Country Housekeeper, offers a bespoke housekeeping service partnered with ironing, spring cleaning, shop and office cleaning, gardening and much more. I pride myself on offering an excellent service at affordable prices that I try to freeze for as long as possible. Granted, there are some big name cleaning firms out there but I believe that my service is second to none, because I am passionate about it and I am the working face of my business.

The same is true of many other local businesses and I aim to support them wherever I can. When I moved to Wincanton last July I chose a local firm, Cullingfords, to supply and fit my carpets. My housekeeping uniforms are now supplied by RAM Sports whom I discovered can print logos onto fleeces and polo shirts. I food shop in Morrisons, use the local deli and eateries and I am about to get some flyers printed up in Papertrees for my new year promotions.

I also bought my boys some new clothes from Little Cherubs and love to treat myself to goodies from The Post Office, Totally Floored and Elegant Home. The Post Office stocks some lovely toiletries by Cath Kidston among others as well as delicious chocolates, and Totally Floored is like an Aladdin's cave of beautiful vintage, retro and shabby chic homewares. There are many others too - the lovely Fiona in the sandwich shop serves all sorts of hot treats, perfect in this chilly weather and you can buy everything from a new outfit including shoes to a bottle of perfume or some make-up on our little High Street.

Do make use of our local charity shops too. If you are astute and pop in regularly you will be sure of a bargain like the lovely black Monsoon skirt I picked up in town for just £4.00! Finally, for novelty value, how many of you have perused the shelves of the Discworld Emporium - it's fabulous!

So come on - pop to our own High Street for a morning's shopping, go in all the shops and see what's on offer. And if you need a service look locally - you will be guaranteed a warm welcome, flexibility, quality and a great service.

Oh... and if you need a housekeeper give me a call on 01963 824632 or 07733 460195.

Be proud of our town and keep it local!
