Castle Cary Apple Day is on Sunday 23rd October
Pop along to Castle Cary’s Apple Day this Sunday 23rd October, 11am - 3pm, for a feast of apple-based delights and bucolic entertainment, set in and around the town’s historic Market House.
Part celebration and part market, at its core will be all things appley, with stalls from the area’s best cider producers, including organic makers King Brain, micro-producer Harry Darby and other award-winning local heroes. There will be a special cider cocktail from Somerset Cider Brandy and apple fritters to tempt your tastebuds. And you can bring your apples along (reasonable quantities only please!) for pressing.
Other artisanal producers will be selling food that pairs well with cider, whether it’s amazing award-winning cheeses from White Lake and Feltham’s Farm or Somerset Charcuterie’s cider chorizo. Other producers include Black Bee Honey, Somerset Membrillo and Brickell’s ice cream.
Street food with an appley theme will be available from Thoroughly Wild Meat and the Sunflower Kitchen and there will be acoustic music from “Left, Right & Centre” and a duo from “Kangaroo Moon”. For the younger members of the family, there will be apple lobbing and pumpkin carving – not apples, perhaps, but Halloween is just around the corner and it seemed like the right thing to do.
