Castle Cary Identifies Local Priorities in PACT Meeting
Tuesday 26 February 2013, 22:05
By Charlie Allen
Castle Cary held its first Partner and Community Together (PACT) meeting for several years on 19/02/13. I would like to thank all who attended to have their say on local priorities. The following issues were identified by the public as being of the highest priority:
- Parking and obstruction on Woodcock St, Castle Cary particularly in relation to use of the Barclays' cash ATM machine.
- Speeding vehicles on the A371 past Cumnock Crescent, Castle Cary in the 30mph zone.
- Parking along South Cary Lane, Castle Cary causing obstruction to junctions and forcing vehicles into oncoming traffic.
The police will be the lead agency for the second issue. I am looking for volunteers to set up a Community Speed Watch scheme. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact myself on 07824 600330 or email either [] or [].
Issues 1. and 3. will be a multi-agency approach involving the Council, Highways and the police.
We will take these 3 issues forward and will report on progress when we hold the next PACT meeting in six months time.
