Celebrating Ten Years of Spectra Musica in Style
Spectra Musica celebrated its tenth anniversary in great style thanks to the hugely varied programme chosen by the very knowledgeable and talented Musical Director Peter Leech.
The group was formed with the ethos of singing music from all ages and genres. The concert at St Luke and St Teresa’s on 2nd July certainly lived up to that ideal. The two largest pieces, works by Purcell and Scott Joplin, were accompanied by an extremely versatile quintet of string players who added greatly to the celebratory tone of the evening. Anita D’Attellis also performed stunning solo items as well as accompanying the choir.
Spectra Musica have received many wonderful comments from members of the large audience, particularly the following words from Father Louis:
The concert was fab, and congratulations are due to everyone who made it such a fabulous evening’s entertainment. It was a joy to listen to, and the tasty food and bubbles rounded it off perfectly.
You have set an extremely high standard; may you maintain that quality for every concert you undertake.
The group will be performing again on 19th November in Somerton Parish Church. More details will follow, but do put the date in your diary now!
Rehearsals for this begin on Tuesday 6th September in the Methodist Church Wincanton. New members are welcome, particularly tenors and basses. Contact Sally Greenhalgh on 01749 860457.
