Many town centre residents received a leaflet with the headline, "SSDC PLANS TO SELL OFF CHURCHFIELD CARPARK". Such an idea struck me as barking mad so along with about forty others I turned up at the SSDC meeting on 12th February to object.

Wincanton's beloved skate park has just been demolished, in preparation for the construction of a brand new one! Things are shaping up for an exciting launch this summer, so watch this space for further information!

A casual vacancy has arisen on Wincanton Town Council due to resignation. Since no electors have called for an election, the Council will fill this vacancy by co-option at its meeting Monday 27th January 2020. Contact the Clerk for an application form.
Wincanton has voted to keep free parking [at point of use]
Wincanton's car parks will remain free at the point of use after the Town Council voted overwhelmingly to honour the result of the town-wide survey it undertook during the week leading up to the 18th October.
Wincanton car parking survey closes on Friday 18th
Wincanton Town Council has delivered a survey to every eligible residence in the town. Should we agree to pay more Council Tax to cover the cost of parking for everyone, or should we let SSDC install parking meters so those who use them will cover the cost?

Following public consultation earlier in the year, at its meeting last week, South Somerset District Council’s Area East Committee approved amendments to the Wincanton Town Centre Strategy as a direct result of community concerns.

Wincanton Town Council has arranged a follow-up consultation event in the Town Hall on Monday 24th June to make the design for a replacement skate park available for feedback. A member of the design team will be available to discuss ideas and feedback.

We are being asked to vote for the next county councillors to represent our area at Somerset County Council. Voting for the Wincanton and Bruton candidates will take place at Wincanton Memorial Hall between 7:00am and 10:00pm.
