Defence Secretary Philip Hammond MP Visits Henshaw Inflatables
On 23rd April David Warburton, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome, invited the Rt Hon. Philip Hammond MP, Secretary of State for Defence, to visit the successful local business Henshaw Inflatables, a world-leader in providing RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boats) to military facilities worldwide.
Founded in 1974, Henshaw Inflatables specialises in the production of RIB collars and tubes for military, commercial and leisure industries worldwide. Employing more than fifty staff, the company's 33,000 sq ft factory is based in Wincanton and run by Managing Director Chris Hornidge.
David Warburton commented, "I first visited Henshaw's last year and was hugely impressed with the incredible variety of products they build - providing services for the MoD and for defence contracts worldwide - and the fantastic success they've had. I wanted the Secretary of State for Defence to see the level of entrepreneurial achievement in Somerset, particularly here in Wincanton."
Rt Hon. Philip Hammond MP said, "Like David, I was much impressed by Henshaw Inflatables. It's always terrific to see such an ambitious and enterprising business, and one with such energy and drive. This strong local business clearly has a bright future in the years ahead."
Henshaw Inflatables is now exploring new markets, including inflatable sound baffles for offshore wind turbine pile-driving. The business continues to seek to innovate and offer its unique products across the world and operates exclusively from its Wincanton base.
