Do You Recognise This Man? Police Seek Information UPDATED
[UPDATED] See below for the latest update to this article.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary are appealing to the public for help to identify a man whom they wish to speak with in connection to an incident in Wincanton. Just prior to Christmas between 18:15hrs and 18:25hrs on Monday 19th December 2011 deliberate damage was caused to a 4x4 motor vehicle which was parked outside of Lloyds TSB Bank, Market Place, Wincanton.
The offender attempted to open the driver’s door of the vehicle but then walked off up the High Street. The man then returned less than ten minutes later and struck the driver’s door body panel twice before scratching the panelling, causing damage to the paintwork.
Police are keen to speak to a man in relation to this incident who was in the area at the time. He is described as being in his late sixties with a white beard, white hair and at the time of the offence was wearing a blue baseball cap with a darker blue jacket unzipped to reveal a light coloured jumper; light blue denim jeans with brown shoes or trainers and carrying a dark coloured umbrella with a light coloured wooden handle.
PCSO Dan Arthur said "I am keen to identify the male who I believe is local to the town. From CCTV two other younger males were in the area at the time and used the bank’s cash machine. One of these males alerted the owner of the damaged vehicle. If anybody can identify the male or knows of his whereabouts I would ask them to make contact with us so as to assist the investigation."
Anybody with any information is asked to contact the Constabulary's general enquiries number '101' or alternatively the public can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, they will never take your name or trace your call.
UPDATE FROM PCSO DAN ARTHUR 06/02/12
Please note the below suspect has now been identified and located. The male is now no longer sought. I wish to thank the public for their assistance and information which led to the identification of the male.
The male has been issued with an £80 fine for causing criminal damage.
Kind Regards, Dan
