Fantastic Flower Show in the Parish Church

This year’s Flower Festival in Wincanton Parish Church, which ran from 27 – 29 June really pulled out all the stops for beautiful and original displays. The theme this year was Celebration and the displays were made by members of a wide range of schools and organisations in the town.

This year all the rain we had earlier seems to have brought out the flowers to be particularly rich in colour and size, but more than that the arrangers went to so much trouble not only to choose beautiful flowers, but to arrange them in interesting and innovative ways to illustrate the theme.

In addition to laying out the flowers beautifully, the church members who organised this event made the interior of St Peter’s into an open and welcoming area for visitors with a large and varied second hand bookstall and tea, coffee and cakes.

The pictures that follow give you some idea, but the sight and smells of the real thing really was incredible.
