New Farmers' Market Makes a Promising Start at Milborne Port
Milborne Port held their first Farmers' Market at The Queens Head pub, London Road on Sunday 4th March 2012. The landlords, Toni and Steve, had offered their premises free of charge for this very exciting opportunity of getting our community together for this new venture.
On the day it was absolutely awful weather, pouring with rain and windy, but luckily for us the event is held inside in the skittle alley and milk parlour. We had six stalls on the day selling all homemade or home-grown produce and these included cupcakes and Danish pastries still hot, cakes and savouries, sausages and pork chops, handmade cider mugs, fabric items like pillows, cushions, and fancy fabric display boards, and handmade cards, bags, and some knitted items. All the stall-holders were pleased with the event and everybody sold their produce. It was well attended, despite the weather and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that supported this new venture.
At the event I was amazed how many people came up to me asking if they could have a stall for the next market so the next one will be bigger and better. I already have three new stalls coming next time which were booked on the day. This is great news as we will be holding this market on the first Sunday in the month from 11.00am - 2.00pm. Please come along and support us as we want this to grow and become one of the best farmers' markets around with quality homemade or home-grown produce.
If you are interested in having a stall at our next market the date is Sunday 1st April and the stalls are FREE OF CHARGE. If you would like any further information then please contact PCSO Mandy Forsey on 0771 771 7744 or .
