Planning Approval Given at Last for New Health Centre at New Barns
The doctors and staff of Wincanton Health Centre are delighted that, at its meeting on 9th June, the Area East District Council Planning Committee voted nine to one to approve the planning application for the new health centre.
The members of the committee agreed that, in the current financial climate, it is essential that this project is progressed urgently in order that the health centre can secure the funding. They also accepted that, following a robust and thorough search spanning over five years, there is no town centre site available and the New Barns Farm site is the best solution.
The planning approval means that we can finally get on with building a 21st century health centre so that we can provide improved health care for our patients. The doctors and staff would like to thank all those who signed our petition and who wrote separately to the planning officer in support of the application.
We will keep you all posted on progress at the various stages of the project and look forward to welcoming you to the new health centre in the late summer next year.
