Latest Police Reports - Car Crime and Property Damage
PCSO Mandy Forsey reports on damage to a house in The Avenue, Wincanton.
Overnight between 1600hr on Friday 1st June and 0930hrs on Saturday 2nd June 2012 a glass front door was damaged on a property in The Avenue, Wincanton. The damage appears to be a small hole in the glass which has caused it to shatter. This may have been caused by a shot pellet or stone or similar. This now has to be replaced at a cost to the owner.
This incident has upset the owner of the property, and there is a cost implication to now have it replaced. This kind of mindless damage will not be tolerated and is not acceptable. This behaviour will not be tolerated and we are hoping for the assistance of the local community. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious at this time.
Two reports from PCSO Dan Arthur - car crime in Wincanton and Castle Cary
Avon and Somerset Constabulary are appealing for information from the public to assist with their ongoing enquiries following an incident in the Mundays Mead area of Wincanton.
Overnight between Friday 1st June and the morning of Saturday 2nd June 2012, two cars, a Vauxhall Vectra and Toyota Yaris, suffered considerable damage to their bodywork whilst they were parked on the keepers property.
We are appealing to the public to assist with our enquiries into this incident. Overnight some form of acidic solution has been thrown over the bodywork of these two cars. The solution has then burned through the vehicles causing some considerable damage to the paintwork and trim. I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed or know of the persons responsible for causing the damage to please contact us. Additionally if you have also received similar damage to your vehicle we would be keen to hear from you.
In a second incident during the evening of Monday 28th May 2012, in the Fore Street area of Castle Cary, a white Land Rover Freelander car had its rear window smashed whilst it was parked in the parking bay.
Enquiries are still ongoing into this incident however we are appealing to the public to help to further enhance our investigation with any additional information. We are particularly keen to speak with anybody who may have witnessed the persons responsible for smashing the vehicle window. At this time it is thought the incident occurred between 7:30pm and 8.00pm, a time during which the town was still fairly busy with passing motorists and people out in the local pubs.
The public can contact the constabulary's non-emergency contact number '101' to provide information about any of these incidents or alternatively contact can be made with the independent charity Crimestoppers for free on 0800 555 111 - they will never attempt to trace or record your call and will never ask for your name.
