The First Information Evening of the Wincanton Patient Participation Group Sets a High Standard for Future Meetings
For the first time the Wincanton Patient Participation Group (PPG) organised an Information Evening in the Memorial Hall on Monday 14th September and we were very heartened to have a turn-out of over sixty people. The subject chosen for this session was Dementia, a condition which directly or indirectly affects so many, and which is of concern to more and more people.
Local GP Ian Philips of the Wincanton Health Centre Practice described the various forms of dementia and Dementia Consultant Chris Sherratt then spoke about treatment and the problems of living with dementia, both for the patient and the carer.
This understandably resulted in a lively question time which carried over into refreshments and was followed by a time for personal contact with both speakers and members of the support groups who were also present.
The success of this evening will encourage Wincanton PPG to tackle further subjects of importance to local patients.
