Purple Poppy Antique and Lifestyle Emporium Coming Soon to Wincanton!
The project to launch an emporium in Wincanton seems to have been in planning for an age. It is however now close to a reality as the solicitors finalise the lease detail. The shop, formerly Alldays, will be home to over 40 small businesses, all trading under one roof and as one shop.
The aim of the emporium is two-fold. Firstly we are providing a low cost, low risk opportunity for small businesses to have a retail presence. The business owners will benefit from a huge amount of free training including first aid, health and safety, shrinkage and security, customer service and food hygiene. We hope that this environment will help some of our traders to move on to having their own shops in the future.
The second aim is to create a new shopping and social experience in the town. We hope to have regular in-store demonstrations and hold weekly events at the back of the shop such as craft fairs, vintage fairs and workshops. We also hope to provide access to regular clubs and would love to hear what you would like to see running. Certainly knitting seems popular!
As the shop keys jangle ever closer we need to ask for your support. We will need a quantity of wooden furniture to display products and to furnish a small tea room. Dressers, bookshelves, tables and chairs would all be extremely useful, no matter how old or tatty! If you would be kind enough to donate anything please email .
We have been talking to a local school and the children would like a sweet shop! So we are planning to put in a kids pick n mix and an adult 'nostalgic' sweet range. So what sweets would you like us to stock?
Some of the companies already signed up to join us at The Purple Poppy Emporium include:
Polish Pottery
Crafted with pride in Boleslawiec, Poland, this world renowned pottery is sure to please all who enjoy traditional folk art ceramics.
Polish farmers created these traditional designs with inspiration from the proud peacock. The brilliant colours added beauty and colour to an otherwise plain and simple lifestyle. Over the years the technique of using handmade stencils to create the designs has become a form of art passed on to new generations. Antique pieces can be viewed at museums in Poland. The people of Boleslawiec are proud to share their art with the world.
Each collectible dish whether a teapot or mixing bowl, will be an heirloom piece to be cherished for years to come.
