Singing is good for the soul! Check out these local sing-for-fun groups

  • Release pain-relieving endorphins, reducing pain and increasing your pain threshold

  • Improve lung capacity and clears sinuses and respiratory tubes
  • Improve posture and tones facial and stomach muscles
  • Enhance memory for people with dementia
  • Help with grief
  • Improve mental health, alertness and mood
  • Improve confidence
  • Help improve speaking skills
  • And, very importantly – the social benefits are enormous – singing with others widens your circle of friends and develops a sense of belonging and connection

Give it a try! Here are two groups you could join - you don’t need to read music or be able to sing in tune for either!

Castle Cary Community Singing Group hosts Singing for Fun which takes place in All Saints Church every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month from 3:45-4:45pm - £1.50 including refreshments. A huge range of songs from the 1950’s – 1980’s, songs from the shows and popular music.

There’s also Goldies Sing & Smile sessions that take place in Bruton Methodist Church on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 2-3pm – these are fun sessions singing songs from the 1950’s onwards – all are welcome – just a £2 donation and free refreshments.
