Summer Exhibition of Watercolours – “Vintage Flowers” by Lucy M. Jenkins
A new series of watercolour paintings by Lucy M. Jenkins will be shown at Divine Wines in Wincanton throughout the month of August.
The inspiration for these lovely paintings came from the pairing together of garden and wild flowers with vintage floral chinaware. Many of our wild and even garden flowers are fast disappearing so Lucy wanted to capture their beauty and preserve their essence before they were gone.
Combining the flowers with painted floral china seemed the perfect way to bring together the products of industry and the works of nature.
Lucy has loved flowers and watercolour paints for as long as she can remember and only recently thought of putting them together to make a record of some of the beautiful flowers that we have.
A contribution from sales of paintings and cards will go to Plantlife, a charity who lobbies local councils to protect wild flowers and other nature.
