Taste Food Fair at Wincanton Racecourse on Grand National Day
A bunch of award winning chefs, some of Somerset and Dorset's finest food and drink producers and one of the highlights of the racing calendar compose a brand new food festival for the region.
The Taste Fair at Wincanton Racecourse on Saturday 14th April - Grand National Day - brings together celebrated chefs and producers, live music and other entertainment, and a chance to enjoy a drink in one of the racecourse bars and watch the big race from Aintree.
The Taste Food Fair is brought to us by the Blackmore Vale Magazine, organisers of the Taste of Dorset Food Awards, now in their fifth year, and the Taste of Somerset Food Awards.
The chef demonstrators include Brett Sutton, award-winning chef of the Eastbury Hotel at Sherborne, who is passionate about local sourcing, foraging and growing his own vegetables, Mark Hammick, chef proprietor of the Gaggle of Geese at Buckland Newton, the 2011 Taste of Dorset Best Local Pub, and Callum Keir, who was former head chef of Holbrook House Hotel at Wincanton when they won the Taste of Somerset Best Restaurant Award in 2011.
Food producers taking part include Kimbers Farm Shop - three times winners of Taste of Somerset awards; From Dorset With Love, who make original and delicious preserves and jams; and Orchard Park, whose Lagan Farm was named Taste of Dorset Best Meat Producer in 2011.
The Anonymous Travelling Market will be there [Editor: those guys from the Wincanton Christmas Extravaganza last year] with their colourful, quirky selection of makers, food producers, vintage stalls and live music.
