The Aurin Girls’ Choir is bringing its 20th anniversary concert to Bruton
The Aurin Girls’ Choir from Hungary is returning to Bruton again this year in which the girls have been celebrating their choir's 20th anniversary. It has also been 20 years since their first visit to Bruton, so we regard this as a very special concert.
As part of their UK tour they will perform at St Mary’s Church, Bruton, on Wednesday 26th June at 7:30pm. Under the direction of their conductor, László Durányik, this award-winning choir will be singing a variety of sacred and secular music, from Renaissance music to some lighter spirituals and including some breath taking Hungarian contemporary pieces and folk arrangements.
The choir comes from the famous Zoltán Kodály Music School in Kecskemét, Hungary, and has won numerous awards and gold medals, including 1st prize at the Llangollen Eistedfodd and more recently in October 2018 they won 1st prize at the International Choir Competition in Beira, Portugal, and in 2017, 1st prizes in Paralia, Greece, and at the Budapest International Choir Competition - a prize they have won on seven other occasions.
Admission £7 in advance, £10 on the door, children under 16 free. Last time the concert was a sell-out so be sure to get your tickets early! Tickets may be purchased from Bruton Pharmacy, Church Bridge Stores, (01749 813161), or online.
The choir will also be giving workshops for local school children during their short stay.
