The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movie posterThis Wednesday 12th December 2012 at King Arthur's will see Wincanton Film Society screen the box office hit, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starting at 7:30pm.

A group of retired Brits are enticed by a restored and optimistically advertised hotel in India. Arriving to find the establishment in considerably less grand a state than imagined, they are nevertheless charmed and transformed by their shared and life-changing experiences.

The cast includes:

Judi Dench
Bill Nighy
Dev Patel
Tom Wilkinson
Maggie Smith

This great film has the feel-good factor in spades, so unwind as we approach Christmas and join us for the evening.

Wincanton Film Society meets in King Arthur's School's Performance Enhancement Centre, around the back near the Dancing Lane entrance.

Enjoy the 14' x 12' screen, the surround sound and the great atmosphere. Enjoy the café style set-up with refreshments. Who knows, there may even be some special nibbles. Will our Nell come up with the mulled wine and the sausage rolls? Can someone reserve one for me? I will be in Scotland and miss the film. Now I'll need to get the DVD as this is one I waited to see. Murphy's Law strikes again.

Spread the word and see if we can break a record or two. Can we get our membership up to 100? Can we break the visitor record? War Horse in October set our visitor record at 28. Invite a friend to join you as a pre-Christmas treat.

The committee of Wincanton Film Society would like to wish all our members and friends a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We also thank The Wincanton Window for all their hard work and support over the past year. Keep up the great work guys.

I'm gutted that I missed it. Hope you all liked it. Don't tell me about it. I want to see it when I get home.

John you not only missed a very good film but you missed a really good evening. With almost 100 people coming along to this film showing, the evening was buzzing. Not only did we have our traditional Christmas mulled wine and sausage rolls, but we had some wonderful Indian nibbles provided by our sponsor for the evening, Wincanton Tandoori. Much appreciated by everyone there.

I approached cynical, expecting another condescending/sentimental take on being an oldie only to find excellent acting, writing and a story that twisted and turned in unexprcted directions, sharp, funny and sad. Almost like life really.
