Visiting Speaker from Debt Advice Charity at the Parish Church

Wincanton Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul is delighted to welcome Hannah Gibbons, Gillingham Centre Manager of Christians Against Poverty as guest speaker at their 10.30 service on Sunday 18 September 2011. Anyone who would like to hear what Hannah has to say will be very welcome.

CAP is a well known debt counselling service recently featured in an edition of Songs of Praise, when their work was praised by HRH Prince of Wales.

Martin Lewis on his website MoneySavingExpert.com says of them "Debt counselling agency, which specialises in helping those who are emotionally struggling too. The religious focus is why they do it, not how they do it."

CAP provide a free service for their clients, and aim to provide each one with an debt expert to help them become debt free and a befriender who will be available for a friendly chat whenever things get to be too much. They like to work with local churches, and aim eventually to cover the nation with centres of free, non judgemental advice for those in debt.
