Wincanton Film Society - New Season 2010/11 Started September 21st

Wincanton's own cinema (The Wincanton Film Society) launched its 2010/11 season with a screening of one of the major releases of 2009 - "Hurt Locker" giving an insight into the life of the members of an army bomb squad in the Iraq war. The next (tonight, as it happens) is "Up In The Air", starring George Clooney.

All are welcome. You can become a season ticket holder, or you can pay to view individual films at the door (£5 per film). Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or other adult who accepts responsibility for them.

This is a great facility for Wincanton and the surrounding area. The Film Society is based at King Arthur's school in the spacious Performance Enhancement Centre, accessed from the rear car park off Dancing Lane. Come along and see for yourself! There is seating for 147 on the excellent padded seats on the risers, with extra seats available on the main floor as needed.

Come and experience great films on our large 14' x 10' screen with surround sound. Doors open at 7pm when you can enjoy a drink and nibbles, for a modest donation. Enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, and a great movie.

As well as screening films monthly in Wincanton the Society also operates an outreach programme, screening films for smaller community groups, village halls and youth groups. We also work with Screen Bites screening films with a food theme throughout Dorset, and now in selected Somerset venues. A great way to add value to your local community.

Tuesday 22nd March - 7:45pm - "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas".

Tuesday 26th April - 7:45pm - "The Night Porter - Classic".

Wednesday 25th May - 7:45pm - "Nowhere Boy".

Tuesday 21nd June - ***7:00pm*** - WFS AGM staring 7pm sharp followed by an end-of-season special film to be announce nearer the time.
