What's YOUR Story?
It's not always obvious when you visit Wincanton Window, but all the articles here are written by YOU! Give yourselves a pat on the back!
We've had so many compliments on the professional look of the site that many people assume we have paid journalists and a photographer working for us! "Can you send someone to cover our event?" is a request we get quite a lot. Or "I've got a story for you to write about."
The truth is, we're all volunteers here and we edit and manage the Wincanton Window website around our day jobs, which pretty much takes up our time to be honest. So when the Window was launched it was always going to be you that supplied the stories and us that published them.
Incredibly, many of you have already risen to the challenge. Thanks to your efforts we've published over 900 of your articles since we launched in 2009. Last month alone, over 6,000 visitors read your articles.
We'd like to invite even more of you to join in though. Everyone, in fact!
What's YOUR Story?
- What makes you cross?
- What needs shouting about, good and bad?
- What's going on in the area?
- What's happening in your club or organisation?
- What's your business all about?
If you've got something to say that's relevant to the local area, Wincanton Window is where you'll be heard.
Writing an article for Wincanton Window
You don't need permission to send us an article; you don't need to attend meetings or be a gifted writer/photographer. All you need is the desire to write about something that's important to you.
We can't write articles for you, but we can give you lots of help in shaping it up if you need it - I'd be out of a job if nothing ever needed editing!
Everything you need to know about sending us an article is on our Write page.
Leaving comments on articles
Without wanting to sound cheesy, this website is for you and by you; it's essentially a forum where the whole community can get stuck in - nothing makes us feel more like it's all worthwhile than a good discussion or debate in the comments after articles. Sadly, relatively few do and one criticism we get a fair bit is that it's too much hassle to create an account in order to leave comments.
All I'd say to that is, you created an account for Facebook didn't you? Or Twitter? We're just the same; it takes a couple of minutes and you only have to do it the once, same as any other social platform.
Whether you take the time to write an article or simply get busy leaving comments, we really appreciate you making Wincanton Window such a lively hub of activity.
Get in touch if I can help you with anything.
