Jim Eastaugh, Club chairman, with David Heath MPWincanton Camera Club has been the meeting point for local enthusiastic amateur photographers since the 1950's, gathering fortnightly in the Adult Education Centre adjacent to King Arthur's School.

The Club programme runs from September until May, and includes a number of competitions both in-house and regional with external judges, as well as hotly contested matches with our colleagues in Gillingham and Shaftesbury. Talks on technique and presentations from other photographers are also part of the programme.

The Club is one of the 98 clubs that comprise the Western Counties Photographic Federation and members regularly join in their competitions and activities. Nowadays the emphasis is more on digital photography, and the Club was fortunate to obtain a grant to purchase a digital projector after which our local MP, David Heath, a keen photographer himself, visited the Club (shown here with our Chairman, Jim Eastaugh) to see a selection of our members' work. An exhibition is held in Wincanton Library each year during September.

The Club welcomes new members of any ability with an interest in photography. The Club website, www.wincantoncameraclub.co.uk, has details of the current programme, a gallery of members' photographs, and the details of the Club committee for those who would like to make contact for more information about the Club.
