Wincanton Farmers' Market this Friday, 7th December
Our first Christmas behind The Bear Inn so prepare to be surprised. I phoned Jo, the landlady today, to ask if there were any decorations. Jo was rather reticent, saying that there are decorations but they come from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Christmas party and are somewhat unusual. Intriguing!
We will be holding our Free Christmas Draw as always, so look for Louise as you come in, to fill in your draw ticket.
This will be a 'cosy' market as we have 13 stalls this month:
- Nic of Dorset Down Mushrooms has told me that she will be there, sadly for the last time, as they are closing their business down at the end of this year. Do buy your mushrooms for Christmas - they are so fresh and last for ages. I am speaking from many years experience of buying their delicious mushrooms. Nic and George will be sorely missed.
- Mary from Fussells Fine Foods, with oils, mayonnaises and dressings.
- Emma and Joy, Ham Street Produce, with pork and baked products.
- Janet, Mere Fish Farm with fresh and smoked trout.
- Jonothan, North Perrott Fruit Farm, with apple and pear juice and Somerset Apples. He has Christmas Trees at the shop but is unable to get them in the van for Friday.
- Terry of Pure Pigs with lamb, beef, goat and their excellent fresh chicken and cooked ham.
- Fran, Simply Cooking, with cakes and baked savoury and sweet products. Buy your Christmas cake, Christmas Pudding and Mince Pies.
- Matthew or Sean from Taylors Traditional Bakers from Bruton, with fresh artisan bread, multiseed, granary or even tiger bread.
- Gould's cheese from Somerset with their traditional hard cheeses. Please support as we would like them to continue to come next year.
- Adrian of Meze Meze with his Greek range of sweets and savouries. Have a night off from slaving over a hot stove and try his moussaka.
- Pru of Old Castle Farm Pork is back from her adventures in South Africa. Don't forget your Christmas chipolatas.
- In our guest slot this month is Farrington Flowers bringing natural Christmas wreaths as well as potted hyacinths, narcissi and cyclamen.
- The Live At Home Charity will be selling their cards.
We will not be holding a market in January but will be back on Friday 4th February as usual. We have our new Somerset Farmers' Market date leaflets from 2013.
We would like to thank you all for supporting Wincanton Farmers' Market this year as well as Jo of The Bear Inn for welcoming us to our new venue. It hasn't been the easiest year for us but we are putting all that behind us now. In fact, I rather like being in the High Street and hope that you do too.
We would also like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year and we look forward to your friendship and custom in 2013.
