Wincanton Fibromyalgia Support Group
Most of us have had flu and suffered aches and pains all over our bodies and just wanted to sleep until it all goes away. Imagine feeling like that and the professionals not believing you. Wanting to work, look after the family or even just look after yourself and not being able to.
You'd want to know why. You'd want to know what to do to make things better.
Many people with Fibromyalgia struggle with this for years. It often takes an article in the media to alert them to Fibromyalgia as a possible cause for their many conditions. Many medical professionals do not have the expertise to diagnose or treat people with Fibromyalgia, but it is estimated that 1 in every 50 of the population are likely to develop this condition, mainly women, but far fewer are likely to be properly diagnosed.
The common symptoms are:
- Muscle pain
- Fatigue
- Specific tender points
- Disturbed sleep
- Poor concentration
- Irritable bowel syndrome
I hope this helps you to understand a little bit more now about how terrible this syndrome is.
Fibromyalgia Support Group
We have a support group for sufferers of Fibromyalgia or similar conditions at The Health Centre, Dykes Way, Wincanton BA9 9FQ.
We meet on the last Thursday of each month from 1.00pm-3.00pm. Do come along and enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit, and join us for a chat and some help if you need it.
You are welcome to bring a carer or support friend or family with you. We prefer it if small children and babies don't come to our meetings, as we do hope to enjoy some quiet, relaxing sessions when we have time.
If you can't attend the meetings, you can ring me on for advice, support or help.
Contact Kath 0844 887 2597 (this is charged at local call rates).
