Wincanton Silver Band - bringing music to the local community
In 2020, Wincanton Silver Band will be celebrating 130 years of music-making in Wincanton and is proud to be part of the community.
On Sunday 22nd September, in the Memorial Hall between 2pm and 5pm, the band is holding a “Meet the Band” event at which you can have a go at playing some of the instruments and listen to a short concert from the band.
Our musical director, James White, has ambitions for the band to become more involved in the local community, to improve the musical standard of the band and to attract new players and restart the training band.
Brass bands provide a great opportunity to play a musical instrument at any age, whether you're 8 or 80, and it has also been shown that playing a musical instrument is good for your health and wellbeing.
If you are interested in joining the band or learning a brass instrument, please contact the band at .
The band is also pleased to accept engagements in the local area supporting local charities, so if you would like the band to play at your event please get in touch.
