Once again, Wincanton saw a good turnout of both spectators and those participating in the Remembrance Day parade down through the High Street. It was particularly encouraging to see many younger members of the community involved in the event.

Lucy Jenkins exhibits a new collection of watercolour paintings throughout December at Divine Wines in Wincanton. Entitled Fruits of the Earth, the collection raises awareness of the impact of climate change and the direct impact of human actions on nature.
Christmas Party Day at Wincanton Racecourse
On Thursday 3rd December Wincanton Racecourse hosts its Christmas Party Day, the perfect opportunity to celebrate the festive season with a day at the races. Choral music will greet and entertain you as you shop at over 20 trade stands.

Wincanton Parish Church are holding a Festival of Nativity Scenes in the Church from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th December, created by local groups, organisations and individuals. Come and admire the displays.

Switching On the Christmas Tree Lights
This Saturday, 14th, at 6:30pm the lights on the Christmas tree at Market Place will be switched on as part of a ceremony lead by Mayor Colin Winder. There will hopefully also be some carol singing around the tree.

When one of the seats at the Wincanton War Memorial was damaged, it appeared to be an act of vandalism but there was a very different side to the incident and the outcome showed a strong community spirit.
South Street Road Closure – Monday 26th October
On Monday 26th October Somerset County Highways will be closing South Street for one day to allow works to be carried out on the pedestrian crossing between the Balsam Fields junction and Wincanton Primary School.
