Bruton School For Girls Art Exhibition
Bruton School for Girls has reason to see their Art Department, led by Brian Wyatt, as being a bit special, not only for the grades many students achieve at GCSE and A level, but for the opportunities the subject gives. Of course all pupils do some Art, but Mr Wyatt is particularly pleased to see that those pupils who are keen on Maths and Science are just as drawn to the subject as those with interests in the Humanities. It gives them an opportunity to research and explore totally different subjects in such a different way while developing skills handling different media (drawing, painting, photography, collecting and making things) and above all it encourages students to be able to express themselves creatively.
A mark of their confidence this year has been for the school to take part in the Somerset Arts Week by putting on a large and fascinating exhibition and to throw open their art studios so members of the public can visit and see what they have been doing. This continues with the school being open from Monday the 27th September to Friday the 1st October 11am to 4pm.
What follows are twelve portraits of students set against one piece of their work.
