Charity Calls for Collection Hosts
Are you able to volunteer a few days a year for a charitable cause? Are you enthusiastic, sociable and good at dealing with money? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is looking for someone in Wincanton to help host their charity collections, particularly during the Great Daffodil Appeal in March.
The role will involve welcoming collectors on the day and providing them with the kit they need for the collection, and counting and banking the collection income. The collection host will be asked to look after a few of Marie Curie’s collections a year, in their local supermarkets or the town centre.
The collection host role is fundamental in supporting our Marie Curie nurses. All the money raised will help the charity provide free local care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes. You can help us make the 2014/15 collections our greatest ever.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK’s largest charities. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it provided care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its nine hospices last year and is the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS.
Funding
Around 70 per cent of the charity’s income comes from the generous support of thousands of individuals, membership organisations and businesses, with the balance of our funds coming from the NHS.
