Coast to Coast Hike for Rebuild Balud Raises Over £1600
Thank to the fantastic generosity of friends, family and colleagues, the hike Jonathan Astill and Simon Lynch took last week, coast to coast across Devon via the Two Moors Way, has currently raised over £1,600.00 for Rebuild Balud. This is sufficient to rebuild FOUR houses in a Philippino village that was devastated by last year’s typhoon and the home-place of my sister-in-law, Sheril and her family.
The walk was largely a success, but sadly (and very painfully) an old knee injury, came back to haunt Jonathan nearing the end of day three, making it impossible for him to continue with the five-day hike. Simon continued with the march and Jonathan returned to Holne via the kindness of strangers, buses, a train and a taxi so that he could return by car to support Simon along the way wherever the route passed a village or road to offer support, fresh socks and talcum powder.
