In aid of Somerset Sight, Count and Countess Charles de Salis are having a Car Boot Sale at Yarlington House, on Sunday 8th September. All the profits will go to Somerset Sight of which Count Charles was President for many years.
After the First World War in 1919, in response to a need to help blinded soldiers returning from the war, a committee was formed which in 1920 became known as The Somerset County Association for the Blind. Now known as Somerset Sight, its voluntary activities have continued unabated.
The number of visually impaired people in Somerset has increased to an estimated 19,000, reflecting increased longevity and improvement in awareness and identification. Somerset Sight provides its members with services and helps them to participate in social and other activities.
Yarlington House is in Yarlington which is just off the A371 between Wincanton and Castle Cary. The car boot sale starts at 9.00am. Entrance is £2.50.
For further information please telephone Somerset Sight on 01823 333818.
