Finn Kennedy Back for Smash Hit Charity Fashion Show
An enthusiastic audience of Wincanton ladies and a few brave men filled the Memorial Hall for an extremely enjoyable and well organised Fashion Show on Friday 30th April. The evening started with ticket holders having a glass of wine and tasty nibbles as they browsed the racks of "new to you" fashion and stalls showing jewellery and other goods donated to the Hospice.
Linda Ireland introduces Finn Kennedy
Everyone then moved into the hall as at 7.30pm Finn Kennedy, well known for her fashion shows when she launched Preview ten years ago, picked up her microphone and in her own inimitable way compered the show. Modelled by a team of local volunteers who strutted their stuff with commendable panache after being put through their paces by Finn, the show demonstrated that careful selection in a good second hand shop like the Hospice fashion store in the High Street can result in extremely smart and attractive outfits. As Finn pointed out new stock comes in daily and you never know what you might find, so it is worth browsing regularly as you may pick up remarkable bargains - often with impressive designer pedigrees. At the same time of course you will help benefit this extremely important charity.
The evening culminated in a really good raffle skilfully organised so as not to be boring, and an auction which included varied, interesting and valuable offerings. The overall total for the evening has yet to be finalised, but I hope we can put this on the site when it is known.
Ann Lee explains what the shops
in Wincanton have achieved
With two shops in Wincanton High Street, one specialising in clothes and fashion and one in furniture and goods for the home, Clinical Director Ann Lee told us that under the management of Linda Ireland backed by her amazing team of 40 volunteers both shops have taken off in a big way and between them are making a very considerable contribution to Hospice funding.
It must never be forgotten that hospice care continues to rely to a large extent on voluntary and charitable giving and that St Margaret's Somerset Hospice is providing a service which sooner or later many of us and those who mean most to us will need. Below are the photographs I have taken. Prints of any of these can be ordered at £8 each for an 8"x6" print with the proceeds going to the hospice. Email your order direct to me at or leave your order at the clothes shop. Prints will be ready for collection and payment from there after 25th of May.
