KA Head Leaves for New Challenges in Abu Dhabi
At the end of the Autumn Term the staff and students of King Arthur's said farewell to Tamra Bradbury who had been their Headteacher since September 2006. Although she had not intended to leave King Arthur's in such a relatively short period since joining, when she spotted her dream job being advertised she decided to apply. It was with mixed emotions that she told the staff of her impending move to become the Principal of a brand new International School in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi.
When Tamra arrived at King Arthur's the school was rated as "Satisfactory" by Ofsted and on departure the school is now "Good". She brought to the school challenge, rigour, pace and a new monitoring and evaluating system.
Tamra worked tirelessly for the school and all the hard work paid off. The many changes the school has seen are increased examination results, new lockers, two new lifts plus more photos of students around the school than ever before and the Excalibur magazine. The Library, Dining Room and changing rooms have been revamped and there is now a Flexible Learning Centre.
On the final day of term the farewell presentation from her colleagues was cut short due to the heavy snow fall, something that is very unlikely to happen at her new school in Abu Dhabi!
In a farewell message to everyone, via the schools' Excalibur magazine, Tamra said:
"It has been a privilege to be Headteacher at King Arthur's and I want to thank everyone for their kind words and good wishes for the future.
What an immense pleasure it has been to know and work with staff, students, parents, governors and partner Primary Schools. I will look back on my time here with fond memories. King Arthur's is a very special place and I am confident it will continue to go from strength to strength under the leadership of Mrs Wilkes."
