Local businesses give Wincanton Rugby Club a fresh look
Wincanton Rugby Club has received a cash boost from several local businesses to purchase a brand new and much needed home strip for the new season.
The teams favoured establishment, The Nog Inn, as well as retail supplier Retail Chilled Solutions, Wessex Hoofcare and The Physio Room have all contributed to the club’s new look.
This is the second year running that the business men and women of Wincanton have supported the club. The purchase of the team's away kit was made possible by SJH Carpets, Bennetts Field Garage, BA9 Cycles and Wincanton Sports Centre all pitching in.
As well as being extremely grateful for the support, the club has returned the faith in the investment with on-pitch performance. Falling narrowly short on promotion last year, it now sits 3rd in the Tribute Somerset 3rd Division, picking up victories over local rivals Frome, Wells and Crewkerne.
The boys also entered the Frome 7s tournament in the summer for a more casual event, and will be touring Edinburgh in the new year.
Always on the look out for new players, the team trains at 7pm on Tuesdays at Wincanton Sports Centre. All abilities are welcome, whether you’re a first-timer, returning to the game or a regular player, but for safety reasons players must be at least 17 years of age.
