Refresh your wardrobe at the Bootmakers monthly swap-shop
Hate Your Wardrobe? Help is at hand in the form of a new, monthly clothes swap launching Saturday 13th July.
A new initiative by Bootmakers, the scrap-based activities workshop in Wincanton’s Market Place, the swaps are aimed at women of all ages who seek guilt-free shopping for next to nothing.
But how does it work?
Bring up to ten articles of good condition women’s clothing or accessories to Bootmakers between 12 noon and 4pm on July 13th, pay a £5 entrance fee, get a stamp for each of your items, grab arm loads of other people’s clothes for nothing and leave feeling you’ve done your bit to reduce textile waste, given your cast-offs the chance of a happy new home, and taken a giant step towards achieving the wardrobe of your dreams.
See nothing you like? Just save your stamps for next month’s swap – after July they’ll take place every third Saturday of each month.
While you swap your heart out upstairs, the Bootmakers team will happily keep your kids crafting downstairs free of charge. And if that’s not enough, swappers need not stay at the swap throughout the 12-4 period; in fact, coming and going is positively encouraged.
There will be plenty to see elsewhere in town on Saturday 13th July, including a foragers market with live music at Coles Yard, Psychic Saturday at the Seed Cafe in Market Place and a free drop-in clothes embellishment workshop at The Hub at No 4.
