Wincanton Joint Schools Concert
The Memorial hall was packed out when the evening began at 7.00pm with an introduction from Deryck Lemon representing not only King Arthur's school but also the Town Council. It is only due to the generous funding of the council that we were able to hold a concert in this venue.
There were several different musical groups representing King Arthur's school including the Orchestra, Band, Singing Group, Choir, Folk Group and a specially put together Year 7 Ensemble and Wind Ensemble. Wincanton and Our Lady's Primary Schools both brought choirs and there was a Joint Primary Band which had principally been rehearsed by Graeme Wilson, Headteacher at Wincanton Primary.
Also involved were Neil Chapman and the Junior Wincanton Band and ex-King Arthur's students Joe James and Adam Switzer. With such a packed programme it was inevitably going to run a little late but it was worth every second. A truly magical evening with a huge variety of music and smiles on faces all round.
For me, the highlights were the Junior Band which I feel is a great step forward to see and of course the ever talented Joe James with the voice of a god! But it was also an emotional farewell to two of my most loyal and amazing musicians, Alice Baker and Lorna Blackmore. They are both going on to study Music next year in different places and I wish them every success and thank them for the years of hard work and dedication.
A huge thank you to all the people who made this evening a success, especially all the performers.
