Wincanton Mayor, Cllr Deryck Lemon, traversing the new climbing wall at King Arthur's SchoolKing Arthur's Community School was awarded nearly £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund, after a successful bid by Mrs Andrea McCall, the former Finance Manager. The funds were used to install a traversing wall, three kickboard goals, outside chess/draughts tables and three hexagonal tree seats.

Wincanton's Mayor, Cllr Deryck Lemon, a former teacher at the school, was in attendance and started the proceedings. House points were awarded for the fastest students to navigate the entire wall. Both Cllr Lemon and Mr Chris Beech, Head teacher, also demonstrated their climbing skills around the traverse wall.

The new play equipment has enriched the outside social space at the school but will also benefit other community groups that use the school and grounds.
