Wincanton Primary Pupils Pack Shoebox Gifts for Children

By John Baxter
Nearly a hundred pupils at Wincanton Primary School have been thinking about what it must be like to live in a country where many children have very very little. As part of Operation Christmas Child they have been finding a box and filling it with suitable gifts such as toys, pens and pencils, hairbrushes, toothbrushes and sweets and packing them up with seasonal wrapping paper. In addition parents make a donation of about £2.50 and these are all then taken over by the charity to be delivered in time for Christmas. Our picture shows four pupils aged five and six against the background of a room full of boxes. Many children at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School have also taken part in this project.
