Wincanton's Wintry Snowy Scenes (updated Jan 22nd)

Monday 8 February 2010, 15:03
By John Baxter

With schools closed and the town covered in a magical blanket of white, we awoke to a near silent town. This is the longest, coldest snap for thirty years we are told, and it is not finished yet, but today is a day to celebrate, have fun and throw snowballs as children and adults were doing in Mill Street.

It is also a great time to take photos, so if you have some eye-catching images please send them with your name and email to and I will put them on the site.
