Job Done! in Wincanton
We are all facing difficult economic times, many businesses are struggling and local people are losing their jobs.
Research shows that the best way to find another job is through friends, family or social networks.
Job Done! is a job club that meets weekly at the Balsam Centre, to help people into work. Its sociable and supportive environment enables people to learn new skills and build confidence.
During its first year the Job Done! approach has helped many people to improve their transferable skills and expand their network of contacts and understanding of the local job market.
Job Done! sessions offer advice on interview technique, CV and cover-letter writing, IT and presentation skills, networking skills and volunteering opportunities.
Members of Job Done! are offered the chance to improve or rediscover skills that employers really value such as problem solving, team working, organisation, working to deadlines and decision making.
These skills are nurtured via catering, horticulture or rural skills sessions delivered in the Growing Space, in the teaching kitchen and the local area. IT skills can also be sharpened up in the centre's computer suite.
Job Done! members are able to share in each others' job-hunting and career experiences and encourage each other in the quest for a new job.
Job Done! meets each Friday at the Balsam Centre, Balsam Park, Wincanton at 11:00, it is free of charge.
If you are unemployed or you would like to help someone who is then please contact Rupert at or on 01963 31842 or just drop in to the Balsam Centre.
