Wincanton Branch ChairmanBranch Chairman Retires

Wincanton RBL branch chairman Trevor Mills-Smith and his wife Jean are moving shortly to Ireland and at the branch meeting on 15th March Trevor formally retired and resigned as chairman. Trevor has successfully steered the branch through many momentous occasions -

The Old Faithful Commemoration, New War Memorial completion, the Sweets for the Troops initiative and the Commando Helicopter Force Homecoming Parade. During his term of office we have won the Colin McKenzie Cup three times as "the most efficient branch in South Somerset group" our membership numbers have increased and branch finances are good. Trevor has told us he will be back for the branch dinner in October and members look forward to seeing him then. The branch presented Trevor and Jean with a collage of photos in a frame which showed the highlights of his term of office, including the many trips he made with them to the battlefields of Europe (Normandy, Ypres and the Somme). He was also given an inscribed RBL plaque. The branch committee has decided that secretary Tony Goddard will take on the role of acting chairman until the AGM in November.
