Tributes are paid to former South Somerset District Council Leader Tim Carroll
Tributes have been paid to former South Somerset District Council Leader Tim Carroll who has passed away following a long illness.
Tim was a South Somerset District Councillor for 20 years and was the Leader of Council from 2001 to 2004, and again from 2006 to 2011. He represented the Wincanton Ward for 16 years and latterly, the Yeovil West Ward.
He also served on Somerset County Council from 1993 to 2005 in roles including Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport.
“Tim was a distinguished Council Leader, who commanded respect from all members and officers at SSDC. He was a man of great intellect, wit and charm. I had the pleasure of working with him on both the District and County Council where his wisdom and guidance were invaluable.
“He will be remembered with fondness and will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
- Cllr Paul Maxwell, District Council Chairman
"Tim was an outstanding Leader and councillor in South Somerset. He was well respected and the epitome of what a councillor should be."
- Val Keitch, District Council Leader
