West Hill - Life on the Wild Side

Mr. Fox

It's Saturday 30th January 2010. The end of 2009 and the start of 2010 has been dramatic to say the least with amazing scenes of snow, the like of which even I as a Scotsman, haven't seen for 20/30 years. But life settled back to normal and today was no exception. The Saturday peace was broken by the weekly assault on my sanity (taking my wife shopping for the weekly groceries).

Having survived this major weekly ordeal I settle for a period of quiet and calm (playing a computer game). Suddenly the peace is shattered by a scream from my beloved to come quickly. Immediately my brain leaps into action.

We've sprung a leak in the plumbing!
The TV has died!
The house is on fire!

My attention is drawn to the bedroom window to see what the issue is. Ok this isn't so bad, it's the garden shed. It's fallen down or it's on fire. But no! Neither. What greets me is an amazing picture of one of God's beautiful creatures happily at rest. A fox in our garden in all it's glory. Resplendent in its sleekness and in the beautiful colour of its fur. Just lying there sunbathing.

But wait. There is nothing unusual about this sight. We've seen it before. Foxes, badgers, magpies, herons, and robins etc. Our garden is a veritable wild life treasure trove. The beauty of this one is that this discerning fox decided that it wanted to be nearer the sun. So it climbed onto our garden shed.
