Wincanton Library is open again! Sort of...
You may have noticed as you walk down Carrington Way that the Library is open again! It is opening in phases. On 3rd August it opened its doors, but it is not quite the same gloriously free space it used to be!
You take the books you want to return into the front door as usual, but then you put them into a quarantine box there. You are greeted by a member of staff (in a mask) who will ask you to use the hand gel provided and make sure that you are wearing your mask. Then you go into the library and staff will ask you what sort of books you are looking for and bring them to you. If they can satisfy your request they will let you have books to take away.
Alternatively, you can fill in a form which you can get from the Library or download from this link and send in online.
The librarians will find books that match the requests on the form as closely as they can and phone you when the books are ready to be collected. As I write, no browsing is allowed! But this is due to change shortly. This again is a part of the phased opening, so Taunton, for instance, has just started to allow browsing, although Wincanton has not got this far quite yet. But watch this space - things are moving fast!
Two computers are operating. You can use them for an hour and they need to be booked in advance. You can phone the central library number, 0300 123 2224, and ask them to book you in, or email Wincanton Library at .
We are so looking forward to having everybody back but we must be certain you and the staff are all as safe as possible. We hope you will understand.
