Eight employees from Wincanton Racecourse took a day off from their usual duties and were put to work on a number of tasks including poo-picking, tack-cleaning, washing down walls and weeding, at the Blackmore Vale Riding for the Disabled Association.

A large number of townspeople turned out in Wincanton on 23rd June to mark the 75th anniversary of the crash of the American Flying Fortress bomber, Old Faithful, nearby. The sacrifices made that day have been remembered every year since a memorial was erected in 1954.
